"To be a mother is to take on one of the most emotionally and intellectually demanding, exasperating, strenuous, anxiety-arousing, and deeply satisfying tasks that any human being can undertake."    - Sheila Kitzinger  Ourselves as Mothers

Infant Massage:

Individual family instructional sessions available upon request.

Support yourself on this journey with prenatal massage.  Beneficial for both mother and baby, pregnancy massage will ease your pain and discomfort, and reduce your stress and blood pressure, maintaining the best environment for healthy fetal development.

Pregnancy massage has been proven to:

Ease heartburn, gas and constipation
Relieve sinus congestion and headaches
Increase circulation
Decrease swelling
Reduce stress and anxiety
Ease leg cramps
Relieve round ligament and sciatic nerve pain
Allieviate back and  hip discomfort
Reduce complications of pregnancy and labor
Decrease occurance of premature birth
Reduce necessity for cesarean birth

Prenatal massage is safe and effective throughout your pregnancy, when offered by a prenatal massage specialist.  Of course your midwife, MD or Ob/Gyn would like to hear you are receiving massage and some complications during pregancy will require their consultation before receiving bodywork.

Utilizing semi-reclined and side lying positions, and lots of strategically placed pillows, we keep baby safe and mom supported.  Organic oils and lotions are used keep those stretch marks to a minimum.

Extra time is scheduled into these sessions for bathroom breaks and extra position changes.

Massage is recommended weekly to bi-weekly for mother and baby for the first 12 weeks postpartum and then according to the needs and progress of mom thereafter.

I encourage you to bring your baby to your appointment, so that you may snuggle and nurse as needed while you receive your massage.  I include an extra 15 minutes in these sessions for nursing & diaper changes.

Massage after cesarean births can usually begin 6 weeks postpartum.
